NVC doesn't offer a public API like USCIS does. This page helps you save your case details and jump straight to the official CEAC status checker — no re-typing every time.

NVC Status Codes Explained
In Transit

Your case has been approved by USCIS and is being physically transferred to NVC. Usually takes 30-60 days.

What to do
Watch your mail for the NVC Welcome Letter (arrives by mail)
No action needed yet — wait for NVC to contact you
Do not call NVC during this stage
At NVC

NVC has received your case and is preparing the case file. They will send a Welcome Letter with your case number and invoice ID.

What to do
You will receive a Welcome Letter with Case Number and Invoice ID
Set up an account at ceac.state.gov using those numbers
Gather civil documents (birth cert, marriage cert, police clearance)
Pay Fees

NVC is ready for you to pay the Affidavit of Support (AOS) and Immigrant Visa (IV) application fees online.

What to do
Log in to CEAC and pay the AOS fee ($120) and IV fee ($325)
Pay from a US bank account — international cards may not work
After payment, fees take 1-2 business days to process
Ready

Fees paid. NVC is waiting for you to submit civil documents and the DS-260 application.

What to do
Submit the DS-260 online via CEAC
Upload required civil documents (scans must be clear)
Respond promptly to any RFE (request for evidence) from NVC
Documentarily Qualified

NVC has reviewed and accepted all required documents. Waiting for an interview appointment to be scheduled.

What to do
You may wait 1-6 months for an interview date
Priority date must be current in the Visa Bulletin
Start scheduling your medical exam with a panel physician
In Transit to Post

NVC has scheduled your interview and sent your case to the U.S. embassy or consulate abroad.

What to do
Complete medical exam with a consulate-approved physician
Print your DS-260 confirmation and interview letter
Gather all required originals for the interview
Ready for Interview

The consulate has your case and your interview is scheduled. Prepare your documents and attend on the scheduled date.

What to do
Bring originals of all documents
Dress professionally, arrive 15 min early
Bring the interview appointment letter and passport
Issued

Your immigrant visa has been approved. You will receive your passport with visa stamp and an immigrant packet for travel to the U.S.

What to do
Do not open the sealed packet given to you
Travel to the US within 6 months of visa issuance
Pay the $220 USCIS Immigrant Fee online before traveling
Refused

Visa was refused. This may be temporary (requires additional docs under 221(g)) or final. Consult an attorney immediately.

Administrative Processing

Case is under additional review. Can take weeks to months. No action required from you.
